Sultan Iskandar Muda brought the Sultanate of Aceh to its peak as the dominant power in the Straits of Malacca and a major player in Indian Ocean trade. Under his rule, Aceh became a renowned center of Islamic scholarship, attracting scholars from across the Muslim world, and maintained diplomatic relations with the Ottoman Empire.
